It’s easy to see why even Blum wanted to forget The Gallows: Act II. It may be his company’s worst film.

In order to get youtube views, drama student girl summons the dead boy from the first film but her new boyfriend gets her to kill herself to get himself youtube views.

The movie’s finale offers a twist that ostensibly ameliorates the internal-logic complaints. But it most vividly registers as a rancid misogynist cherry atop a sloppy concoction of tired jump scares.

Jason Blum produces too much garbage and a lot of dumb people loves to consume it.

As someone who unironically loves found footage movies, I liked the first Gallows well enough. This sequel, however, is truly a terribly made movie with some awful acting, writing and special effects. I can totally see why Blumhouse wanted to bury this film; somehow this feels like a Disney original, but as a horror movie. I gotta say I did enjoy the twist at the end, that made the movie a tiny bit better in retrospect. Still terrible, though.
