The Food of the Gods (1976)

Morgan and his friends are on a hunting trip on a remote Canadian island when they are attacked by a swarm of giant wasps. Looking for help, Morgan stumbles across a barn inhabited by an enormous killer chicken. After doing some exploring, they discover the entire island is crawling with animals that have somehow grown to giant size. The most dangerous of all of these, however, are the rats, who are mobilizing to do battle with the human intruders.

A flagrant disregard for animals' rights—all for the purposes of a schlocky B-movie—gives "The Food of the Gods" a nasty, unclean stench that steals away whatever fun there is to be had.

Freaking hilarious and over the top horror film about a group of people trapped on an island with mutated animals thanks in part to some liquid in the ground or whatever. Truly has to be seen to be believed. The effects are god awful and hilarious. Giant killer wasps, worms, a chicken, and the rats. Hilarious and preposterous!!!

That was actually pretty dope. I was surprised at how effective a lot of the effects were, especially for the times and budget. I'd like to see remakes of these movies. Probably wouldn't work for today's shitty, cynical, hip, "clever" audiences though...
