There's a good story here. Too bad del Amo's shallow nostalgia fails to ignite any of the melodramatic passion, or the accidental comedy, Orol's own films may possess.

Unlike Tim Burton's 'Ed Wood,' it doesn't make a convincing case for Orol as an artist, even a demented or incompetent one. The film shows us little of Orol's work; we don't know why critics hated his movies, or why the public liked them.
