Dr. Henry Armitage, an expert in the occult, goes to the old Whateley manor in Dunwich looking for Nancy Wagner, a student who went missing the previous night. He is turned away by Wilbur, the family's insidious heir, who has plans for the young girl. But Armitage won't be deterred. Through conversations with the locals, he soon unearths the Whateleys' darkest secret — as well as a great evil.

Love the low budget special effects and the late 60s psychedelic influence on this film. Dean Stockwell obviously studied Vincent Price's eyebrow action *very* intensively before taking on this role. Priceless!

Tried too hard to be like "Rosemary's Baby" even though its based off of a Lovecraft story. Decent at times but not great.

Like most horror movies from its era, it runs out of steam towards the end (which seems hastily assembled from whatever scraps of footage they had before they probably ran out of time and money).
