I enjoyed this movie. Sure it has all the camp associated with most Lovecraftian-type films. But it also has a good sense of building tension. I need to see it again, but I recall really enjoying it for what it was.

Lackluster adaptation of Lovecraft's creepy ook-from-another-dimension forte with Stockwell staring intently quite a bit and Dee (!) trying to leave the beach behind her. More interesting to see what the cast was willing to do for a buck, but that don't last long.

Ah, admirable attempt...really. I like Stockwell too. But this is just a sad version of the fabulous story. This is a movie that needs to be remade.

Loosly based on Lovecraft Stockwell's performance was hammy. There's a pretty rad psychedelic feel to this and the score by Les Baxter is awesome.

This is an interesting story inspired by a short work by H.P. Lovecraft. While the movie quickly falls away from being an actual story done by Lovecraft, his mythos and subject matter are there. The acting is good enough, especially for its time. The music is also a product of its time and is OK. Pretty much the same can said for the effects.
