Something a little different -- and very much the same, too -- from Britain's horror meister Tod Slaughter, The Crimes of Stephen Hawke is a pure melodramatic delight.

Good screenplay, fine acting. Good atmosphere and suspenseful. Always interesting, effective lighting and art direction.
