An excellent gangster film,set in Las vegas starring William H. Macy and Alec Baldwin-as a very convincing casino manager with violently persuasive skills.

[size=2]I'll be at a Superbowl party tonight not caring who wins as the current Superbowl Champion (until 6:25 tonight) is not in the contest. Oh well, maybe next year Tampa. I saw "The Cooler" last night, another late 2003 movie I couldn't see until now, and it is simply brilliant. I'll write a review of it tonight and post in on my website where you'll have to go to read it. [/size]

The Cooler tells the story of Bernie Lootz, a loser who is employed by a vintage-casino manager to bring an end to winning streaks. His bad luck is contagious. The casino manager is played brilliantly by Alec Baldwin, while Bernie is played by William H. Macy. Things change in the story as Bernie meets Natalie and starts dating her. This shift in the movie's screenplay may seem obvious, but is wonderfully presented, with various unexpected turns. The film concentrates on its characters, which is why i liked it so much. They feel real, and that's something very few films can argue for.
