Kind of one of Wayne's lesser cowboy films. Overall good.

67/100. A bit of a mixed bag. Great cinematography, but surprisingly weak art direction, it's period detail is unimpressive, but the location filming is exceptional. John Wayne gives his usual wooden performance but Lee Marvin and Stuart Whitman do a good job. Ina Balin is bland as the female interest and is a curious choice for the role. Good editing, fine direction and writing.

Holy cow I've seen this movie a lot of times. That's thanks to American Movie Classics. They show it a lot. It is an above average western nonetheless.
