(Mauro Lanari) The Germans apes the Yankees and do no better: the most sci-fi aspect of this subgenre of films is a future in which the dystopian element consists not in overpopulation but on the contrary in post-catastrophist repopulation with deficiencies of fertility. Will they be saved by IVF? The tides as a return of the menstrual cycle: how much ingenuity.

An interesting post-apocolyptic, dystopian sci-fi movie. Very European(Swiss). Kinda dark, no big budget CGI. But an interesting story. Worth watching if you like sci-fi. If you need ILM-level CGI to enjoy a story, look elsewhere.

This movie is slow feels like watching paint dry, there is not real story even though so much more could have been done. The characters are underdeveloped and even if you didn't realize no humans were on the planet at least give the main character the ability to fight.

These characters move in a world that is stunningly visualized but superficially conceived, and The Colony embodies a genre that seems — perhaps like humanity itself — unable to take a step forward in imagining a different future.

Tim Fehlbaum’s The Colony has many ideas about the future, and while not all of them quite stick together, there’s a few interesting aesthetic and narrative choices to make it something of a curiosity. There’s enough going on to capture your notice for brief stints before trailing off into dense plot details or well-worn sci-fi tropes.
