In 1989, five black and Latino teenagers from Harlem were arrested and later convicted of raping a white woman in New York City's Central Park. They spent between 6 and 13 years in prison before a serial rapist confessed that he alone had committed the crime, leading to their convictions being overturned. Set against a backdrop of a decaying city beset by violence and racial tension, this is the story of that horrific crime, the rush to judgment by the police, a media clamoring for sensational stories and an outraged public, and the five lives upended by this miscarriage of justice.

Great documentary that will make you angry and should make us think twice about rushing to judgment

Compelling and terrifying in equal measure, Burns does it again.

the kind of film that does two things brilliantly: reveal the worst in human nature, a rush to judgment, abuse of power, unrequited prejudice... and then how people who are good can stay true to what they know is true, despite everything else. there is the outrage in the details of the case, but Burns and company show that people are mostly horrible, but righteousness needs some earning even in the face of adversity. I don't know if its the 'best' doc, but its most important and expertly edited. your heart sinks for these guys every step of the way. and of course a thought like 'Kill the Pigs!' goes thru my mind at the end.

The most upsetting movie I have seen in a long time. I felt sick to my stomach for these five children who are now men robbed of their adolescence . At the end if the movie two of the gentlemen showed up to take questions . When Kharey Wise and Yusef Salaam walked in I started crying and I am not a crier. These 5 men will never get back what they have lost and are still fighting for their exoneration . On December 17th they are going to court again at 500 Pearl street in Manhattan to continue to fight to clear their name. Please show your support.

For fans of Making A Murder, Serial, and those interested in the flaws of the American law and justice systems. Genuinely made me sad at several parts but I was uplifted by the ability of the human spirit to stay true through the toughest trials and tribulations.
