Wow! This film was unbelievable......ly bad. It had it all...bad script, bad acting, unlikeable characters, terrible effects and even the credits were cheap. Avoid. That is all.

This film's plot synopsis is probably my favourite ever: "On Xmas Eve, residents of an LA apartment complex are trapped in darkness when deadly creatures emerge from basement..." Mainly because with that lead-up it could hardly go wrong in my eyes. But, alas, it did. Still, I was strangely gripped, even though bad direction, uncertain actors (and that's being kind) and a cinematographer who absconded halfway through made it near impossible to know what was happening most of the time. But I'd rather watch a shoddy horror made with 100% passion than a "high-end" prestige effort made only with awards and backslaps in mind. Go, The Blackout, you dodgy, wondrous piece of shit.

Wrong blackout advertised before watching. Budget movie with the poor graphics but a really good storyline. How the odd geographical disturbances were related to the alien invasion

aliens invade L.A, here knocking out anything electrical, and a appartment block under seige with aliens invading it. a very low budget direct to dvd effort which comes off well at time, the aliens themselves are crap, but the limited budget gets good effect, also some bad acting on show also, but there is always something to keep it going, it certainly is one of the better dvd efforts we get to see, so in a way this is the lower budget of skyline(although a bit diferent in aproach) and comes off well, if not brilliant
