In the 13th century, Walter of Gurnie, a disinherited Saxon youth, is forced to flee England. With his friend, Tristram, he falls in with the army of the fierce but avuncular General Bayan, and journeys all the way to China, where both men become involved in intrigues in the court of Kublai Khan.

A good old film. To be seen in order to realize how good was the cinema before all this modern CGI technology!

Pretty good movie, and much different than I would expect from Hollywood at the time and a Tyrone Power movie.

I like this story of a couple unhappy Englishmen who head east in search of adventure. Awesome performance from Orson Welles as the Eastern warlord Bayan, and a lot of good supporting players. My only real issue comes with lead Tyrone Powers, who I normally like, but who came off as kind of a dim, petulant child in this. There are some really cool scenes and the overall path of the story is cool. But at times, itâ(TM)s a touch slow.
