For 1984 this was a great plot and a great special effects. The acting- eh. well....they all have gotten better, lets just say. Look at how far we have come people...you are judging based on today's standards...not 1984's standards..so adjust your scale.

Such an old old movie, the worst effects, bad storeyline, but still it has a place as one of my favs.

Christopher Nolan admits that Satoshi Kon's anime masterpiece was one of his inspirations for Inception, but before either of those films there was Dreamscape, a somewhat b-level 80s film about psychics who can enter the dreams of others. Dreamscape remains campy like the bulk of 80s sci-fi, but its superb cast (Dennis Quaid, Max von Sydow, Christopher Plummer, Kate Capshaw, and Eddie Albert) together with its intriguing plot mark it as a standout of the genre that attempts to explore real psychological phenomena. The film blends elements of The Dead Zone and Altered States together with its own original ideas to create a heady--if cheesy--film that will delight and intrigue fans of science fiction cinema.
