The Amazing Mr. Blunden (1972)

Mysterious old solicitor Mr. Blunden visits Mrs. Allen and her young children in their squalid, tiny Camden Town flat and makes her an offer she cannot refuse. The family become the housekeepers to a derelict country mansion in the charge of the solicitors. One day the children meet the spirits of two other children who died in the mansion nearly a hundred years prior. The children prepare a magic potion that allows them to travel backwards in time to the era of the ghost children. Will the children be able to help their new friends and what will happen to them if they do?

My favourite movie of all time. It's a brilliant picture that I've seen countless times, and still I come back to it, like a duffel coat you should have grown out of, but still love to put on from time to time. Warm and loving, and strangely moving for a kids novel. Diana Dors is great as Mrs Whickens, and the rest of the kids handle their roles admirably. I still cry at the ending.

i was 8 when i first see this film and its been in my life ever since fell in love with lynn fredrick who died very young in real life, diana doors and lawrance nasmith where outstanding. very much a feel good film .

An absolute classic. Enjoyed this film as a child and still do today. Great performances. Especially from Diana Dors. Magical.
