It's hard to imagine how Shyer and script writer John Sweet could have brought this tale to the screen in a cruder, cornier or less interesting way.

Hillary Swank's best movie to date. The story takes place just before the French revolution, and it chronicals the events involving Marie-Antoinette and her necklace which ultimately led to the revolution.

Appallingly bad. For all their oscars, Hilary Swank and Adrien Brody still struggle with the British accent. What makes this particularly ludicrious is that the movie is set in France. Why is it that whenever American actors do accents other than their own in a setting outside of the modern era, that they always choose to do a British one? Did 18th century french people speak with British accents? I'm pretty sure they didn't. It's as if people automatically assume that a British accent will give them clout and gravitas and (fingers crossed) critical recognition. This is a delusion and it pisses me off to no end. Nonetheless, the costumes in this, were glorious.

Boring. I don't understand how this story could be made into a movie. Simply having good cosmetics is not good enough. Spend all that money and effort on making something worthwhile instead.

don't judge a movie by it's cover. seriously. i picked it up and thought it would be good. it's about a scandal that occured that basically initiated the french revolution and brought the French to their breaking point with Marie Antoinette. While Marie was played as a total be-yotch, i thought it was good.
