This elaborately constructed, visually appealing, well-cast adventure film should have worked, but is sunk by a singularly unmusical script and perfunctory handling.

The Adventurer: The Curse of the Midas Box is an example of what happens when the filmmakers are less than scrupulous with the story's connective tissue and don't display affinity for the characters.

To be honest I did not expect much from this film as I had never heard of it but i gave it a shot on Netflix and it was much better than I thought it would be. not great but enjoyable and some very good actors in it as well. It also lends itself well to a series of movies and I hope there will be.

Michael Sheen was great fun in this movie. It was a little slow in the beginning, but it had a great sequel inspiring ending. Overall this is worth a watch to see these actors in some unusual roles.
