Fantastic movie! I went to see it at my local korean cinema best part was that it had english subtitles. Choi Min-sik gives an amazing performance as Admiral Yi Sun-Shin, the the greatest naval admiral in history. The pacing of the film was great with enough things going on to keep my attention the whole time. I recommend reading about Yi Sun-Shin before watching the movie since it'll help you keep up. The film assumes you know who he is already and what a turtle ship is... look up turtle ship too while you're at it.

This was basically like watching the leadup to and the gameplay to Dynasty Warriors. And who better to lead it all than Choi Min Sik being typically one of the best actors in the business

or Roaring Currents (make up your minds!) Weird, confusing and a bit of a mess. Bit funny, and a tiny bit tooooooooo much!

The Admiral: Roaring Currents rides the tide with Han-min Kim's direction. Sailing in at a solid 2 hours, it is a lengthy ride thanks to its slower pace, but the story does do an even split, with an hour of build up and an hour of naval carnage. While the set up is necessary the character interest isn't that great, leaving the first half a little bland and a bit dramatic. The naval battles have some entertainment value in them. Employed by some CG, which is not bad, the events on the Myeongnyang Strait goes back and forth with intriguing action elements. Min-sik Choi leads like he knows how to do. Seung-ryong Ryu has a devilish persona to him. The rest of the cast falls into battle formation. The Admiral: Roaring Currents stirs up commotion in the waters and is a watchable piece of history.
