Very touching drama. Saw this at the Tribeca Film Festival. Mariah did great in her role, you forgot it was MC for a moment. Interesting character study type movie.

Better than Glitter. Carey's storyline with her husband suddenly letting go of obsessing over her was odd. Overall, the main storyline was well done. Bottom line: it was a good flick. Peck was very good, as was Carey, to be honest.

The dramatic payoffs are either nonexistent or overly manipulated, and for a journey that starts with so much deep-set pain and regret to end with a sentimental twist feels, to use a phrase anathema in Carey's world, off-key.

With a sluggish pace and little invention to its premise it won't stand out much against other indie roadtrip flicks, but Tennessee is held aloft by it's leads (including Mariah Carey showing a grand improvement in her acting), ravishingly filmed environment and its emotionally human center with a moving ending.

Had the makings of a good Southern indie film, but lacked humor and fell into the commonplace Nicholas Sparks "sad bad ending", but without the romance before the people die at the end.
