Posse hunts down a runaway Indian and his captured bride. Redford rounding into top form but not quite there yet. Director Polonsky was blacklisted and may be making a few subtle statements here, his first directorial effort in 20 years.

The first film by Abraham Polonsky after being blacklisted in the HUAC era starts poorly with the shock of white actors playing Native Americans, but gradually, the rhythms of the film change from TV-movie awkward to something else: Robert Redford vs. Robert Blake in a strung-out psych-tinged Dr Seuss rockscape.
