Essential viewing for any would-be or struggling screenwriters--all screenwriters struggle--Peter Hanson's uninvitingly titled documentary is a pretty straightforward affair. That's not a bad thing.

Absolutely outstanding documentary for cinephiles and all those who love the process of how films are made. Great interviews from Shane Black, John Carpenter, Paul Shrader, William Goldman, Frank Darabont and on and on.. A great "behind the scenes" stroybook of what it is to be a screenwriter in Hollywood today.

Let me start by saying that this is the least cinematic film about movie-making. Ever. (It's pretty much talking heads & archival photos w/a very few movie clips about screenwriting.) OTOH, it's an absorbing & intriguing 105 minutes about the joys & woes of being a screenwriter... I found myself wishing I could have seen the rest of the interviews with these writers. Recommended for film buffs!

A good documentary explaining just how hard it is to sustain a career as a script writer in Hollywood. The writer is so often the whipping boy, the scapegoat or the servant to the powers that be ie. the studio execs, and more often than not they get no credit both financially or critically for the finished product. For every script you have made, you will have a greater list unsold. A hard life with only the very few being rewarded. Interesting movie, food for thought for any aspiring writers..
