A refreshing Korean film about five female high school friends who face an uphill battle when they try to take their relationships into deeper waters.

This is destined to be a few hundred people's favorite movie of all time. It follows five (well 3 really) best friends from highschool now in their early twenties in a painfully realistic way. Bae Du-na especially stands out, but the performances are solid all round. Another little gem that Korea should be rightly proud of.

What the hell can one do with one's life after 18 years in a mandatory educational system? This is speaking of one who is completely average and doesn't have any outstanding grades, skills, interests, pocket money, etc. Well, one can just land herself in jail simply for not answering administrative questions from police just because the thought of juv jail yields better times than living with anyone or anywhere. That's what happens to one of the five girls who went through highschool as best friends. After graduation, they start creating for themselves a place in the world. They'd force each other to get together over holidays in efforts to keep their bonds rooted like my own highschool friends do. This film is seriously realistic.

Almost a commentary on social economics vs. friendships in the context of a modernizing korean culture. A fantastic emphasis on the values that are being overlooked by the next generation. Certain situations in the movie broke my heart to see. Powerful and poignant.
