Totally bizarre film that showcases some of the most disgusting scenes put on film, that said the film is a nice descent into weridness that pushes itself as far as it can go. Regarded by some as a masterpiece I would have to disagree true the film is one of the original pictures I've ever scene, but what does it all truely mean I guess that's up to you. Highly recommended for those that love strange films or for those that like to exclaim WTF during the end credits. WTF!

I didn't hate it, although it affected me in bewildering and sometimes unpleasant ways. I didn't find it a success, but I found it an audacious attempt, and it's filled with images impossible to forget.

The film is about wanting something and doggedly pursuing it, even when you know it's bad for you--kind of like the refined sugar, candy, chocolate, and other sweet things that are fetishized in SWEET MOVIE.

I loved this movie, loved it and loved it. A brilliant piece of film, a story a piece of pure cinema, a narrative, a satire and a commentary so subtle and beautifully laid out. This movie is stunningly shocking and yet, it captures a spirit so awesome, so liberating and in a city like Amsterdam, known world-wide as more or less a city where anything is legal, like some Whore of Babylon in Europe, no offense. I don't know what to say, this movie will give you different views on different things to each person who watches it, but I can say, this is definitely a great and brilliant piece of work, a difficult movie to watch for some, but some truths are difficult to accept.

"Sweet Movie" is a scattershot and surreal satirical film that throughout makes a valid point that sex really isn't that big a deal and certainly nothing to get worked up about. That illuminating thought begins with the inspired madness that is the Miss World Virginity Pageant, before including depictions of every sexual kink known to man, woman and other. And then just to insure that none of us will ever have an erection again(or the female equivalent), documentary footage is included of bodies being uncovered from the Katyn Massacre site.
