When a Supreme Court judge commits suicide and his secretary is found murdered, all fingers point to Carl Anderson, a homeless veteran who's deaf and mute. But when public defender Kathleen Riley is assigned to his case, she begins to believe that Anderson may actually be innocent. Juror Eddie Sanger, a Washington lobbyist, agrees, and together the pair begins their own investigation of events.

No overacting here. This movie has everything, good actors, great acting and a storyline that offers suspense, humour and some really good performances.

You will be shocked: Cher and Dennis Quaid work as a couple, and it transcends the lame and implausible screenplay here. It's cute. I saw this on tv. I don't know why it works, except that watching the romance develop here draws you in. That romance makes room for you to overlook the story nonsense, and creates just enough curiosity to keep u watching. And it's just satisfying enough that you are 'okay' with the whole thing - warts and all...lol 3 friendly 'objections' out of 5

Silly and routinely unbelievable courtroom thriller, typical of the 80s. Not terrible by any means, but there's nothing here that hasn't been done a hundred times before, and better.

A formulaic 80s court drama starring Cher as a lawyer who is defending an innocent man of a murder wrap, while Quaid plays a juror on the murder trail who teams up with Cher, risking her career to find that nothing is what it seems. The story is interesting, and engrossing. Cher makes this worth a viewing.

I really, really enjoyed this movie a lot. Then again, I love courtroom movies. They dynamic between Cher and Dennis Quaid was wonderful, though.
