I stumbled upon this moving playing on basic cable, and found myself hanging on every word. Want to hear a story of an underdog, not cool at all guy who accidentally ends up best friends with every rock star and movie star in Hollywood (think Almost Famous times infinity). Taking in friends who have breakdowns, adopting children of deceased ex girlfriends and being the greatest guy ever, you cant even be jealous, you just want him to tell you more. Oh, and did I mention its a documentary, and its all a true story?

It’s an affectionate, sometimes downright slobbery career salute with a soft, unexamined center — a moving experience for all involved, no doubt, but one of limited interest outside the celebrity bubble it depicts.

Friends of Shep discuss his often unorthodox business sense, especially in the music biz, as well as his general decency. The guy’s tale is full of funny anecdotes and celeb privilege, but short on pretension.

I've pretty much stopped seeing documentaries in theaters unless they have a really strong visual component (because they nearly all end up on Netflix within a few months), but I wanted to check out Mariemont Theatres in Cincinnati which I really liked...

It's not like every biography needs to be a takedown, but in this case it misses something significantly deeper. Part of why Gordon is so interesting is because he's a bit of a good guy gone bad, or at least living in a dark world.
