super has it all i thought. funny moments, dark reality, real characters and situations, sad moments, gore, and a good story line that makes fun of its self in a true way. yes it is crude and sometimes way off the radar but every movie has those moments. rainn wilson is brilliant " it was just a box...im not just going to leave it there ill pick it up later. i dont want to give my position away" liv tyler was so sad and beautiful. the love scene was so tender bc of her acting. good movie all around! what a gem.

Super is a movie that few will understand. Not because it's that complex of a film, but because the tone wildly shifts around from serious to comedy and back again. It's a challenging film to watch, but still injects enough sympathy and comedy to make it a completely engrossing viewing. Few films even attempt such an unorthodox approach, and even fewer succeed. With incredible performances, stellar writing, and intense direction, Super is one of those films that feels like it belongs to you; you don't want other people to like it. A hipster-y way of thinking? Perhaps. But give me this over just about any other superhero movie any day of the week.
