After viewing last year's documentary "Holy Hell", the Californian haze of cult-based mind control has lingered in the back of my mind. "Sun Choke" keeps a similar deeply unsettling, psychedelic tone. For fans of Panos Cosmatos' "Beyond the Black Rainbow" and 80's horror nostalgia, "Sun Choke" will offer some creepy vibes, some stilted acting, and some classic exploitation. I think I'm looking forward to more films like this, but I would prefer better acting and story. However, considering that it is on Netflix at the moment, it would make a welcome addition to your watch queue.

Sudden sharp shocks are contrasted with beautiful cinematography, moments of giddy freedom are followed by severe punishment, and it's decidedly powerful stuff.

Wouldn't call it a horror except for 3 gory scenes. It was a trippy drama. The movie was great at making you root for the supposed protagonist before switching on a dime and making them the antagonist. Great acting, good direction, good cinematography. Soundtrack was tame but applicable usually. Its definitely a slow burn.

Sun Choke needs some time it is a slow burn . This film works as a character study of in large part because of how committed actress Sarah Hagan is to playing Janie's derangement. It is never really made clear why 'Janie' is a troubled soul suffering from chronic mental disorder with abnormal violent social behavior. Sun Choke with excellent acting from all. The film things adds up to the creation of one evocative, trippy film that is sure to run chills down your spine. This film offers a unique experience that'll leave you surprised and intrigued.
