A compelling and compassionate stranger-in-a-strange-land drama, it's a film brimming with insight, integrity and life. I reckon we're looking at one of the films of 2009.

This was an excellent movie. All the performances were great and it did a very good job of showing you what life must be like being under the spotlight in a new country where you can't even speak the language. This is much more than a movie about baseball, I really enjoyed it. AZUCAR!

An interesting follow up to Half Nelson for filmmaking couple Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. There is a lovely balance between intelligence and passion for a sport that is so often lacking (Friday Night Lights, being the only film in recent memory to match this). The film tries to tackle a bit too much (drugs, injury, etc,) and could have done with a little trim but this remained from start to finish a really engaging and charming film.

Definitely not your typical "baseball movie", but a wonderful movie nonetheless. Most of the characters are realistic enough to make you think you might be watching a documentary. I'll remember this film for a long time.
