A castrating matriarch, a predatory homosexual, greedy relatives, a creepy setting, a shocking twist at the end, and lines like, "She lacerates herself with memory." Yes, this is classic Tennessee Williams. Strange, disturbing Southern fun.

One of the better Tennesse Williams adaptations from play to screen, mostly due to the great atmosphere. The three leads are all great, especially Katharine Hepburn as the crazy mother of Sebastian.

Flawless! Haunting and disturbing. It's like a Southern Gothic Film Noir. The dialouge is masterful; full of archaic yet poetic phrases.
