It's a shame it turned out this bad, there was so much potential for the movie given the characters from DC comics and the rich Superman story line, it could have been way WAY better.

A heart warming story about an oafish black man and the love of his life who just happens to be in a wheelchair. Then he makes a suit of metal and a hammer that has a big magnet in it. He and his wheeled companion then use their love for eachother and for kittens to fight evil. Brilliant!

Despite the fact that Shaq's acting is quite stiff and bland, the movie works as a so bad its good film. But as super hero films go, this one's the black sheep of the genre. It is easy to see why people thought that this film would be the death of the comic book movies.

Based upon a DC Comic series, STEEL features basketball superstar Shaquille O'Neal as John Henry Irons. He leaves the military and turns himself into an armor-wearing superhero. The comic series was a spin-off os SUPERMAN, and this action-packed film features plenty of subtle SUPERMAN references, as well as plenty of Shaft jokes, as SHAFT himself (Richard Roundtree) co-stars, along with Annabeth Gish, in this film that should be a cult classic.
