Leonard Schiller once counted among New York's literary lions, but illness and ten years of writer's block have lowered his profile, almost to the point of obscurity. When Heather Wolfe, an ambitious literature major, asks to interview him for her thesis on his work, her interest forces him to address the issues that he has avoided all these years, and stirs in him feelings he has long forgotten, much to his daughter's consternation.

Pitch perfect. Excellent performances all around. Some of the best dialog I have seen this year. "Freedom isn't the choice the world encourages. You have to wear a suit of armor to defend it."

A has-been, aging writer is trying to finish his last novel while his daughter is having relationship issues. Very low-key film, that takes its time and where nothing happens at all except character development. Every character from large to very small is fully realised. It feels so real and only rarely does it misstep. The sniping between Langella and Taylor's boyfriends is a joy to watch. Never have i seen a writer's world realised so authentically. The performances are outstanding, with Langella the standout, creating a unique, fully flawed person.

Part of Morton's achievement is to present all four people through the viewpoints of the other three; Wagner can't do that, but the performances are so nuanced that the characters remain multilayered, and they're not the sort of people we're accustomed to finding in commercial films.

A moving drama told with procession by Andrew Wagner (who's last film was sort of obnoxious) - this film is evocative, moving, and a meditation on life - a lovely piece of cinema.

This movie was exceptionally beautiful. I enjoyed every minute of it. The whole love dance and the depth of the characters was both moving and inspiring. Amazing cast, Langella is simply superb.
