OH MY GOD! BRILLIANT! YES! AMAZING! AHHH! :D Okay, so, not really in the normal sense. But it's a serious blast of superfun. Basically, this is the movie that everyone thought George Lucas was making when he did Star Wars. The cheesy, pulpy, serial-esque piece of junk that once had names like Commander Cody, Flash Gordon, and Buck Rogers. While Lucas went onto do something amazing, one Luigi "Lewis Coates" Cozzi did this tour de force of blindingly fast pace, abundant optical effects, and easily some of the best logic in a sci-fi movie ever. If you enjoyed the campiness of Mike Hodges' Flash Gordon (1980), I highly suggest this as the laughable "other flick to see." Hell, it's worth it just for Christopher Plummer and David Hasselhoff! =D

So this is probably one of the worst sci-fi films made haha and I don't think it was suppose to be with a cast including Christopher Plummer and David Hasselhoff. Sure they weren't big stars back then, well Plummer may have been known, but this is suppose to be a reasonably serious flick, an equal or challenge to the mighty Star Wars perhaps? maybe Plummer thought this could be his sci-fi moment of glory? alas it was not to be. The effects are terribly bad and full of inconsistant space battles, costumes are your typical nasty shiny 'Flash Gordon' camp affair, the sets are all flashy neon lights and the acting is rather below standard hehe One or two models and costumes (mainly the robot) aren't too bad and Munro in her sexy skimpy space bikini is nice but apart from that its really pretty awful.

Not quite STAR WARS-level entertainment but let's give props to the true star of this production--the uncredited costume designer for Caroline Munro's space attire, which is stellar throughout and spans several outfits. Solid cast of b-movie veterans like Tessier, Spinell and Gortner plus future Oscar winner Christopher Plummer. Seems to improve with multiple viewings.

Terrible effects, awkward dubbing, uninspired writing and dull action... yet I can't bring myself to hate it. It has a certain campy charm, a fine cast and even a score by John Barry. (A bad Barry score is still better than most composers.) Most disappointing of all, however, is Caroline Munro dubbed by another actress. I might have given it another half or even full star if they used her voice.

Never thought I'd see a Star Wars rip-off worse than Turkish Star Wars.

Highly recommended for you
