Morris always has his own agenda and in this case, it's not to provide a clear nuts and bolts account of what happened at Abu Ghraib, but to investigate the people involved and how they justify their actions to themselves. It becomes a parade of people about whom the atrocities circle back to being all about them rather than the victims and still betray a disassociative quality. That said, these folks were also scapegoats for a much larger issue, it seems â?? not just morally, but in the way the entire Iraq War has been waged.

Unbelievable. As it turns out the "just following orders" defense is just as hollow and empty as it was back at Nuremberg. A beautiful film about how people will tell themselves anything to justify abominable behavior. As usual, Morris brilliantly shows how a documentary can be so much more than a simple "this happened/that happened" series of images and interviews. Like getting punched in the stomach for two hours. Needs to be seen.

Very worthwhile film - examining what the famous photos from Abu Ghraib do and don't show. Interviews with many of those punished. At times overdone with the dramatic music and stark "re-creations" of scenes of abuse, but overall quite an effective film. Where is the punishment for those really responsible?

A beautifully shot film about an extremely disturbing problem. It really delves deep into the psychology of a scandal. How some were drawn in by commanding officers and then damned for their actions just because they were caught on camera. But it also portrays the importance of the camera eye to record and expose this damnable behavior. My only criticism is of some overly dramatic imagery that can often take away from the sensitivity of the storytelling.
