Stage Beauty (2004)

Humble Maria, who outfits top London theater star Ned Kynaston, takes none of the credit for the male actor's success at playing women. And because this is the 17th century, Maria, like other females, is prohibited from pursuing her dream of acting. But when powerful people support her, King Charles II lifts the ban on female stage performers. And just as Maria aided Ned, she needs his help to learn her new profession.

this movie has one of the most amazing scenes i've ever seen. Billy Crudup should have recieved an oscar for his portrail of edward kyniston. he stirrs the emotions to an amazing level.

The performances from Billy Crudup and Claire Danes are so excellent. Every actor will appreciate their Othello scene... FIERCE!

Stunningly good acting by both Crudup and Daines, along with a performance from Everett that nearly steals the movie. Some very poignant dramatic and funny moments. Draws you into the characters' lives and blurs the gender lines until all that's seen is a character whose gender doesn't even matter.
