Interesting sci-fi dramedy/thriller vaguely explores a pharmaceutical mogul's human experimentation project on criminal inmates at a luxurious remote island locale. Entertaining but flawed, the production value is impressive but Hemsworth felt like a poor casting choice for this role. What starts off well soon decends into generic 'sci-fi experiment goes wrong' territory.

Chris Hemsworth? Miles Teller? ...STOP CHASING THE NETFLIX MONEY! I know you all need to pay your bills, but considering the garbage they fund(including this film), do you really need this slop on your resumeCV? This film has no idea what it wants to be, what direction to stay course on....and the soundtrack? Whoever is the decision maker in bastardizing every single song within this film should be blacklisted from the industry. I have not watched and listened to a film that filled me with such rage as Spiderhead did. Disney, hurry up an acquire Netflix.

Kosinski has already made one of the year's best movies with Maverick, and with an extremely intriguing concept and fantastic performances all around the board, Kosinski has for the second time this year made one of the best movies of this summer.

In dramatic terms, Spiderhead is mostly a face-off between Hemsworth’s irresistible force and Teller’s immovable object. It offers the pleasure of watching two actors, just coming into their full powers, going at it full-bore, moment by moment. And each makes the other’s performance better.

As a preface, this movie has earned its mixed review reputation. For the good, the premise of this movie is really interesting, the writing is reasonably well done, but it certainly has problems. The acting is mixed, with Miles Teller giving an incredible performance and Chris Hemsworth doing an uncharacteristically mediocre job. I have rewatched this movie multiple times and have noticed several issues with the plot, mostly involving the easy to guess storyline. The characters are rather shallow at times, and the ending feels like an easy out to end the movie. Ultimately, the premise of the movie kind of dies throughout, leaving us with an idiotic villain with absolutely no depth. He ends up giving his backstory with practically no explanation. This movie could have been good but is a let down on many levels. Another promising movie driven into the ground. Disappointing end for a disappointing movie.
