Sound and Fury (1988)

This drama depicts the misery of neglected children in big cities. 13 years old Bruno is of a good family, but since the death of his grandmother he spends most of his time alone, in a phantasy world, while his mother is away at work. But then he befriends the violent Jean-Roger, who's from a severely disturbed family, where nobody cares what he's doing. In school Jean-Roger drives their teacher into despair just for fun. To separate the two boys, she starts to stimulate Bruno's interests by giving him extra lessons. When Jean-Roger fears loosing his one and only friend, he becomes even more aggressive.

Josh Aronson's Sound and Fury, as illuminating and comprehensive as it is heart-wrenching, is an example of what the documentary can accomplish at its most vital and engaging.

One of the most intelligent and thought-provoking documentaries I have ever seen.

Emotionally explosive and rightfully even-handed, this is a timeless and universal documentary (for all the hearing world) that opens the gates between two worlds and presents mankind with a heavy question all parents must ask themselves.

A painful and extremely well-done documentary about Deaf children and the fight over cochlear implants. It's really uncomfortable to watch the family fight and it's tough to really agree with either side completely.

Everyone should see this! Does exactly what a documentary should do: open up the audience's eyes to an often ignored story. The Artinian families' stories are extremely inspiring.
