Australian teenager Heidi is left with little choice but to leave home after she's caught red-handed with her mother's boyfriend. With few options, Heidi ends up in Jindabyne, a tourist community. Upon meeting Joe at a bar, she pursues a relationship with him and tries to find something resembling a normal home life. Heidi makes small strides by getting a job and finding a place to stay, but her relationship with Joe must overcome more than its share of hurdles.

Wonderfully acted, well-written and realistic, and at times beautifully shot. But pretentious. Too pretentious.

loved this film, it is beautifully harsh and vulnerable all at the same time. the colours too really add to the film, the blueness of it all, the red gloves really made it so more emotive.

What Summersault has going for it, is the two really great performances of Sam Worhtington and Abbie Cornish propelling the story. It's a story we've seen before, but it manages to have great relationship advice buried beneath the subtext of the movie.

Somersault, which the Australian Film Institute garlanded with 13 awards, including best film, director, actor and actress (for Ms. Cornish's astonishing performance), is a movie about the looks on people's faces and the disparity between the surface and the roiling chaos beneath.

Abbie Cornish is the next big thing. She is fanastic actress, She is definately Australian!!! she will follow next to Nicole Kidman. Very Impressive!!!
