Best movie to come from Australia in a long time if ever, in my opinion. Stunning, bittersweet tale. Beautiful soundtrack.

A powerful study of teenage insecurity, lust, apathy and longing. Abbie Cornish gives a delicate and beautiful performance, compounding an innocence in alienation and forced independence. Interspersed are some wonderful touches of meditative observation as Heidi explores her new surroundings.

Cornish makes this coming of age tale about an Aussie teenager taking her sexuality for a drive who runs way to the ski country where she meets a lonely local boy who hides from the things he wants.

Its central character, a 16-year-old who uses sex for intimacy, just might be the clue to the emotions that a great many teens go through.

Sean Axmaker 10 May 2006

The annoying shaky-cam style so common to such indie dramas is toned down to a dreamy sway and the image drifts in and out of focus in scenes of heightened emotions. It's like waking from a daze and getting your bearings; the effect is both unsettling and calming.
