The tone here is unhurried and the bursts of violence and narrative played at an aesthetic remove, but the cycles of languor and activity ultimately feel too calculated-the strained overlay of sensationalism onto a desiccated canvas.

Dennis Schwartz 17 Aug 2012

A zany Teutonic character-driven film noir that's filled with deadpan comedy.

Calum Marsh 15 Sep 2012

A tonal hodgepodge ever at odds with itself, Tomasz Thomson's unctuous, tongue-in-cheek debut is far too self-satisfied with its jokes for any to really be funny.

OK flick (and a mediocre word play) that's not too easy to classify. It's not very funny, it's not very thrilling and it's not dramatic either. It's like a dark comedy, and it works out all right. There are many turns here, and some are good others are bad. You never know what you are gonna get here, that's for sure. Nice music, cool characters and an atmospheric that works out. Cool and cold camera shootin. It's like "Fargo" meets "A Somewhat Gentle Man" - just with a poorer result. Snowman's Land is not bad, but it could have been so much better with a few grips. 7 out of 10 public toilet assasins.

Fun, often droll crime thriller about a grungy slob of a hit man given an assignment in the remote, snowy Carpathian Mountains provides a nifty ride for both more demanding audiences and the usual suspects looking for raunchiness.
