Newswoman Britt Shelley shockingly wakes up in bed next to the dead body of Detective Jay Burgess and is suspected of foul play. Five years prior, Jay's lifelong friend Raley Gannon also woke up next to a dead body. After learning of Britt's scandal and the similarities between their two cases, he realizes she might be his only chance for vindication. As the two unravel their mysterious cases together, they find themselves caught in a dangerous political cover-up involving arson and murder.

Movies based on books by authors like Sandra Brown tend to be rather weak, but this one is a nice surprise. The plot is simple enough to follow with a "twist" at the end. I will admit that the twist isn't a great shock if you were paying attention to the story.

Smoke Screen is pretty good for a Lifeline movie. It is an interesting mystery - not immediately obvious who the mastermind is, and somewhat logical - which is more than one can say for most mysteries.

I guess I will be the first to admit to renting this. It must have been a made for tv movie first as it was clear when the commercial breaks were supposed to be. I rented it simply for Jamie Pressley. It was mildly entertaining, but nothing I would recommend to anyone. Jamie did a pretty good job of acting beyond the ditsy blonde role she is usually type cast in. All in all, its a good way to pass mindless afternoon, but nothing you will ever want to see again.

I think this is a pretty good movie. A little hard to figure out, but it was a good romance,and it ended well.
