Fittingly, there is something both thrilling and deeply unpleasant about looking at Galella's body of work -- there is casual genius in some of the captured moments, a combination of access, timing, and luck, with the subject almost always carrying most of the image's weight.

One sign of a really good documentary is when it presents an issue and lets the viewers decide what they think about it, instead of bashing you over the head with the filmmaker's opinions. This documentary about a long-running paparazzo interviews the man himself, plus people who love him and people who hate him and it made me think a lot about fame, celebrity, and the first amendment.

A great portrait of an interesting figure.

Filmmaker Leon Gast ("When We Were Kings") paints an entertaining portrait of the still-working 79-year-old photographer.

It could have been interesting but this film has not structure nor any script whatsoever.
