Slutty Summer (2004)

Hunky writer Markus returns home to find his boyfriend of four years naked with another man. Newly single, he begins waiting tables at a swinging Chelsea hotspot where the indelible supporting cast of co-workers offers conflicting directions on the off-road map to love and lust in New York City. Peter insists on holding out for "the one", and Marilyn vows by her "dating commandments." Meanwhile, lascivious Luke promises the film its title by delivering firecracker quips on the joys of his sexcapades. He believes that sleeping around is the best medicine for a broken heart. Despite disillusion, Markus falls for gorgeous model Tyler who doesn't "do relationships" because how can you promise to love somebody forever? Very indie ... but that's part of its charm. A sweet little NYC gay flick that is worth checking out. Seemed very honest and true to life for the characters. Plus it has a great scene with an a great line "But that was my soup!" ^_^

:rotten: I don't know why I rented this. I thought it was going to be stupid but not nearly as bad as it was. All it is about is a bunch of qweens in NYC and a hetersexual woman and their qwest to get laid except for one of the attractive qweens. The main character isn't even attractive yet the hottest guys are after him. I wonder if he put up the money for this piece of trash. I don't understand why so many gay films are terrible. I can count all the great gay films on one hand. I would need to be a hindu god to count the bad and terrible ones.

I must say it was quite impressive considering it was an independant gay film. The script was okay, but there were some points in the movie where the acting was really really bad, and that was possibly because of the crap lines. The lead guy wasn't so good (even though he apparently went to acting school)but I thought Virginia Bryan was brilliant. Not a great movie, though.

The acting from the main guy is absolutely awful. I said while watching it 'I bet he created it and put himself in the main role'... Guess what? He did. It thoroughly spoils this film which could have at least been a generic distinctly average gay film. There were a couple of fun characters, but when you are bitching throughout about someone's lack of conveying everything kinda spoils it.
