What a great movie, but whenever Joey Lauren Adams talks... my ears bleed.

Wow. This is probably the best movie about love I've seen after 500 Days of Summer. It's premise never comes close to convention, and Joey Adams... she deserved a fucking Oscar.

Great great great. Affleck and Jason Lee are funny as hell. Lee really knows how to play the role of the intelligent, immature asshole. And thats a relief. Plus the whole lesbian/straight/bi story was put together really well. And Silent Bob's speech is one of the greatest ones ever put in a movie.

Smith's second best film, imo. Not even ten minutes in and I am already laughing my ass off. But, that's not what makes this so damn good. The pathos here, is heart-wrenching, stemming from the universally amazing performances, with Affleck never being better; his ending speech, so impassioned, seems so natural and is delivered brilliantly. Joey Lauren Adams, and he, share great chemistry, and she is affecting, adorable, and truly a heartbreaker. But the scene stealer is the brilliant Hooper X character, a flamboyant gay comic artist masquerading as a crazy Black Panther-militant type, is so damn funny, but is the most level-headed character throughout, and seeing his rather sound advice take a nose dive is interesting. Also, the score at the end is subtle and fantastic.

I was like a lot of people thinking "Clerks" was Kevin Smith's greatest. I can see why people think that. But, people who say that don't have a complete understanding of the "Art" of film. Chasing Amy is Kevin Smith is so far into his own world, and nobody in the world wants him ever to leave. This was his last really film in that world. He was battling to stay in that world, but stardom has taken him out. The dialogue in this film is his sharpest, maybe funniest, and BY FAR his deepest. The surprising this about this film is the visuals. The color scheme is gorgeous and the sets are great (I mean it's no "Suspiria" in that department, but still). Essentially all you need to know is that it is Smith's deepest, most detailed and colorful film. It is even more fun watching it than any way it is described.
