Silmido (2003)

On 31 January 1968, 31 North Korean commandos infiltrated South Korea in a failed mission to assassinate President Park Chung-hee. In revenge, the South Korean military assembled a team of 31 criminals on the island of Silmido to kill Kim Il-sung for a suicide mission to redeem their honor, but was cancelled, leaving them frustrated. It is loosely based on a military uprising in the 1970s.

A beautifully tragic tale of Korean nationalism and brotherhood.

This movie gets a Soju Bottle. Beyond it all brotherhood and friendship found in the most unlikely of situations. Worth watching.

This movie is a very powerful story based on true events. I love the strength of emotion that the actors brought forth on the screen, you can't help but feel for these characters. I've seen this movie 3 times now, and I will definitely see it again.
