The Civil War extracts a heavy cost on a Virginian family when the youngest son is mistakenly taken prisoner as a Confederate soldier. More dated than its 1965 date indicates but a good second half. The Church reunion reminded me of Little House.

Another amazing preformance by one of the best actors of all time. A 60s western about a family who wishes to not be involved in the civil war. A touching and inspiring film.

Some elements of the film have dated ever so slightly, but don't affect the film overall. Jimmy Stewart as always steals the show (so to speak) with a very heartfelt, very convincing performance; there are some other wonderful performances throughout. I don't know an awful lot about the American Civil War, but this didn't hamper my viewing at all.

Lame reason but I love watching a man with so many sons. Guess maybe I compare him to my man and our sons, though in competely different circumstances.

This is a movie i grew up watching, yet still has all the greatness that i remember. It will be my faviorite for the rest of my life.
