Shaker Run (1985)

With the accidental discovery of a lethal bio-agent at her research facility, Dr. Christine Ruben decides to double cross her own government by stealing the deadly formula to keep it out of the clutches of the military, whom she doesn't trust. To make her rendezvous with some confederates who promise to get her out of the country, she recruits daredevil driver Judd Pierson and his partner Casey Lee, who are down on their luck and take the job without knowing what they're getting into.

decent road action film with bad direction, bad plot, bad everything. but it works because of Cliff Roberts. watch it when you're in the mood for something cheesy.

Someone gave me this in one of those cheap / gag Christmas gift exchanges - I believe it cost them one dollar. That's about all this flick is worth, too - it's a made-for-TV movie if I ever saw one, 1980s-style. Watch out for Leif Garrett's mullet; that thing is dangerous!

Marketed as Goodbye Pork Pie in reverse, going south to north in New Zealand, but in fact less sophisticated. Harrow returns to her native country to play Christine Ruben, a scientist who steals a biological warfare formula, and hires Robertson and Garrett to help get out of the country. Good action which makes you wish Thelma and Louise ended the same way. But, ultimately, meaningless.

It doesn't really put a foot wrong in it's ambitions and execution. A great little film with action, car chases and superb scenery, all with a touch of 80s. I grew up with this film and still want that car.
