Hansal Mehta's comeback film is an honest & sincere attempt with near flawless performances by entire cast specially Rajkumar Yadav, Mohd. Zeeshan Ayyub & Baljinder Kaur. If first half traces the life of Shahid from 1993 riots to terrorist training in POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir) to serving 5 year jail term for that than second half showcases Shahid in ferocious mood while defending his accused. Watch this film because it tells a story of a guy who had an extraordinary courage & vision. Highly Recommended if you think biopics in Bollywood are always tampered with unwanted songs.

Thankfully, the director doesn't over-dramatize events. He uses a restrained, subtle narrative to tell the audiences Shahid's story, rarely judging his motives or intentions.

Sensitively handled by Hansal Mehta, Shahid is a modern day society shocker ! Supported by top-notch ensemble cast. It's amazingly written from beginning to end. Well it does get a bit lost but only a bit. It's hard to say much about this movie as it's so beautiful made with heart. A true tribute to Late Mr. Shahid Azmi. His biopic couldn't have been better than this.
