NOT BAD... but I really don't understand what all the hoopla and the awards are for. It was an interesting documentary, I thought quite balanced in the presentation of both sides of the issue, but nothing I found outrageously good or incredible. The topic is definitely interesting, how much knowledge is too much and what actually falls under the blanket of "national security"

Another excellent documentary. This time we're looking at the meteoric rise of classified and secretive material in the United States. The film does a great job of examining the current climate of secrecy in America, but it also looks back to the '50s, and shows us how we arrived where here. Most impressive though, it is one of the most well-balanced docs that I've ever seen. It doesn't feel biased or preachy at all. Grade: B+

In this age of political docu mentaries, it's always nice to come upon one that strives to be even-handed.

In addition to historical footage, the film employs a series of pulsating animated drawings, with the white ink against the black background injecting an appropriately unsettling, even sinister tone.

A messily structured look into the hidden world of national security policy and the 'classification universe,' Secrecy comes off as not much more than an aperitif.
