Scorchers (1991)

Bayou La Teche, Louisiana sizzles as the Cajun town celebrates the wedding of Splendid and Dolan. The trouble comes on the wedding night when Splendid is determined to maintain her innocence. On the other side of town Splendids' cousin has her own problems. Her man has been sleeping with Thais, the town hooker. She heads to the Tiger Cafe with gun in hand to get back her man.

One. Of. The. Best. Movies. EVER. A rare gem, I've never seen the actor who played "Jumper" in anything else, but man, what a great actor!

It seems like an adaptation of a play as the movie takes place in only two different locations. The two plot lines are intercut and have no relationship to each other plotwise but are thematically related in that they both end in women having sex. One plot line is about a girl getting over her fear of having sex with her new husband, and the other is about a wife confronting her husbands hooker. The whole movie is like a bad play with endless conversations that represent situations that should be able to be resolved in only a few minutes. It's like listening to the drunk guy at the party for 2 straight hours. I admit I chuckled like twice but i'd rather have oral surgery than watch this movie again.

The director is Daid Beaird, and is based on his own play. This film is from 1991 and in Spain was horribly translated like: "Cuerpos Ardientes"( Hot Bodies), so i'm afraid that the only people who watched this great film was dissapointed because they thought it was a porno...

I feel very fortunate to have found this movie by accident. It is quite unlike anything I had seen up to this point of the screen. I does have a very play performance feel. I challenge anyone with a open mind to begin watching this movie and then walk away. It keeps you glued to the characters to find out what is coming up next. The reason you can't leave is because you care about what's going on. If you give this one a chance you won't regret it. Swall :fresh: :up: :fresh:
