The movie sounds wonderful - cute and quirky, and I was hoping for something like Amelie. I was very disappointed. I have a high tolerance for "slower" movies - my favorites tend to be foreign and documentaries. But after 15 minutes of nothing, we decided our time would be much better spent doing anything else than watch this German man sit at the railroad crossing ringing his bike bell ANY MORE!

A delightfully deadpan comedy from Germany, is one of those movies where nothing whatsoever seems to happen until you look closely, at which point everything happens.

"Herr, lehre uns Bedenken, dass wir alle einmal sterben mÃ¼ssen, auf das wir im Leben klug werden" Psalm 90:12 This movie had both heart and soul. The subtitles lend little to the film itself. My German is a bit rusty but the movie touched me nonetheless. (For those complaining about the slow progression of the film; I honestly don't think it would have had the depth if they had rushed it.... the minimal dialog and contemplative cinematography contribute a great deal to the overall feel of the film... at least in my humble opinion)

A deadpan Schultze, finds himself bored with retirement and suddenly finds joy in zydeco music which he follows from Germany to Louisiana. He doesn't suddenly meet a soulmate or start playing incredible music. This is about reality. Cold, comforting and beautiful reality.
