While Sasha's mother is dreaming of her son's great career as a pianist, Sasha is left speechless for other reasons: his beloved piano teacher Mr. Weber tells him, he is leaving town forever. Sasha is heartbroken, and the only person in whom he can confide his feelings, is his best friend, Jiao. As a son of an Ex-Yugoslav family even in Germany one rarely lives outside the closet, and Sasha is grateful that his homophobic father believes Jiao is his girlfriend. But what begins as a useful lie becomes a large and complicated one, when Sasha's younger brother, begins an affair with Jiao. All lies get exposed and what appears to be a catastrophe is in fact the revelation of new possibilities in the lives of Sasha's family.

A beautiful humorous coming-of-age movie.

This is my favorite movie of all times. It might be simple, but it also has something to it that I couldn't find in other movies of the kind. With a hint of comedy, it will make it pleasurable to watch. It has it lacks, such as the actual scenes with Sasha, the main character. The movie seems to turn a lot of the time on other characters, when we would have hoped to see more of Sasha, who, believe me, will enter our hearts.

"Sasha" is a German movie about Sasha, a tormented boy about his hidden sexuality, who will discover that his beloved (and gay) piano teacher will leave to Vienna. Because of that, Sasha will become upset and will need as an ally his "girlfriend" Jiao to help him into his torments with his teacher. Of course, Sasha is coming from an immigrant family (from East Europe) who are very religious and so he has to deal with it and hide its feelings from them... The storyline is very simple and not very original as you may see from the summary of it. However, it is still kind of nice to have this immigrant family settings into the movie. I don't think this movie is bad but this is certainly not a masterpiece since it is SO simple-minded IMO.

From the opening scene, you realise this coming-out story is going to be different and you're right. Sasha, our protagonist, is the elder son in an Bosnian-immigrant family living in Germany and he has a little secret. Cue 100 mins of amazing acting, hilarious dialogue and a cacophony of emotions and facial expressions. You'll forgive all its idiosyncrasies as you leave beaming from the cinema. The best movie I've seen in a long time and a definite must watch!
