Bizzarely set on the old set of soap opera "Brookside", this is basically what would happen if Brookside was attacked by a monster. Rubbish looking monster, and not the most original idea, but a nice example of how to make a good horror with a small budget, and a small location.

For a low budget horror set on the Wirral this was actually pretty good. There were no big surprises but the paranoia and the tension builds up effectively until the reveal of what is actually stalking them out there which is when it perhaps drops a star as it looks like something Jim Henson created in his student days

A plethora of recognisable TV faces pop up throughout this bleak horror, which successfully achieves a sense of hopelessness akin to the most incoherent nightmare. Some indication of what exactly is going on would have probably helped this miserable film gain some credibility- you don't have to explain everything, but an idea of what the fuck is going on might explain the motivations of some truly awful and inexplicably brutal behaviour. Maybe that was the point. Well, either way, it just comes off as unnecessarily cruel and self-satisfied in retaining its mystery- possibly because the film makers didn't have a fucking clue what it was about either. Shaun Dooley is still awesome though.

So....where to begin? That's what I want to ask the director. Couldn't decide if this movie wanted to be a drama between a mom and daughter, or between a women and her lover, a thriller or a creature feature....oh wait, something about maybe zombies? Hell I'd I know, and the lead actress was so over the top at points I laughed and couldn't take her for real. My suggestion. Avoid, unless you want to watch a jumbled mess.
