I thought it could be a very good drama movie about the life of a geisha, Sada Abe, but I was wrong. Nobuhiko Obaysashi didn't want people to think this is just another AV look-a-like movie, so he tried so hard to direct the movie with all the artistic approaches, too bad... it's just not good at all. End up... the movie is a piece of sh*t with messy storyline, chaos editing, and weird filming. Poor hitomi Kuroki... what a great actress.

Basically a biopic of Sada Abe, SADA has a few really fun, unconventional moments, though it pretty much turns into a PG version of IN THE REALM OF THE SENSES halfway through. Worth watching for the comedic elements and Obayashi's cheeky style.

You'd think the life of Sada Abe would inspire better movies than this and Nagisa Oshima's, and I say this with much love cause he's made brilliant movies, idiotic hardcore porno movie. You'd think someone could make a good movie out of it.
